EVs are part of everyday city life

In major Chinese cities, travelers may notice large numbers of battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, electric taxis and electric buses.

Why they feel especially visible

China has a large domestic EV industry with brands such as BYD (比亚迪), NIO (蔚来), XPeng (小鹏) and Li Auto (理想汽车).

Robotaxis

Commercial or trial robotaxi services operate in selected areas of cities such as Beijing (北京), Shanghai (上海) and Wuhan (武汉).

They are not a universal nationwide transport option.

Treat robotaxis as an optional modern-China experience rather than essential transport.
