HANDBOOK  /  PART 6  /  ACCOMMODATION

Hotels in China

Best for first-time visitors

A conventional hotel is usually the lowest-friction accommodation choice.

You get staffed reception, straightforward passport check-in, predictable facilities, easier luggage storage and hotel handling of accommodation registration.

Location matters more than luxury

Prioritize:

  1. neighborhood;
  2. metro access;
  3. exact branch;
  4. room quality;
  5. price.

Save the Chinese branch name

Save:

English hotel name + Chinese branch name + Chinese address

before arrival.

Check the exact room type

Look carefully at room size, bed type, window, smoking status, breakfast, laundry, air conditioning, heating and late check-in.

If a room says:

No Window (无窗)

take that literally.

Non-smoking rooms

If smoke sensitivity matters, book a:

Non-Smoking Room (无烟房)

and check recent reviews.
